The Sun goddess who is also the CEO of the Mega Corp “Oracle Think Tank” whose name is known in every nation across the entire planet. With dignity and charisma appropriate for a goddess of her high rank, she is both gentle and kind, never forgetting a kind heart, always making sure to thank her employees, to the point she receives looks of trust and respect from those around her, whether or not they’re inside the company. Not many in the public know it, but she takes care of every one of the Royal Paladins whose spirits fell, and continues to support even the Gold Paladins. Just like her divine treasure “Yata-no-Kagami” that emits sunlight that the darkness can never swallow, there is nothing in the world that can swallow up her smile. As the embodiment of the sun, you know she’s a savior because of the light she emits from her own body.

アシュラ・カイザー Asura Kaiser

“ASURA KAISER, FINISHING HOLD!”

いわずと知れたノヴァグラップル常勝無敗のファイターにして現チャンピオン。多数対１のマッチングを自ら望む程の屈強な戦士。 多関節の6本腕は変幻自在な動作が可能であり、「カイザー・バスター」は一発一発の攻撃全てが必殺の破壊力を持つ、まさに「百撃必殺」の大技である。 彼は一度刻まれた傷をあえて修復しないのだと言う。 彼にとって無数の傷は頂である自分に挑戦してきた者たちとの戦いの証ということなのだろう。

The reigning champion of the Nova Grappler league who is known as an undefeated, invincible fighter. He’s a mighty warrior who can hold their own in even one-vs-many handicap matches. With its six multi-joined arms, it’s capable of impossible movements, which allows it to perform the “Kaiser Buster”, an all-or-nothing attack with insane destructive power that is basically a hundred killing moves in one. It’s said he refuses to have any scars repaired. Those countless scars are proof of the battles against every single person he had to fight to reach the top.

聖騎士団の一部に渦巻いていた負の感情を支配し、“シャドウパラディン”を創設した諸悪の根源。 死・絶望・嫉妬・恐怖など、ありとあらゆる負の感情を自らの力へと変えることができる。 また、仲間を計画の為の道具としか考えておらず、用済みになれば容赦なく切り捨てる残忍な性質を持つ。 闇が光を超えた時、「シャドウ・イロージョン」の刃は餓鬼の如く標的へ降り注ぎ、光の残滓を食い尽くすだろう。

The root of all evil who founded the “Shadow Paladins”, by influencing the negative feelings swirling inside several among the ranks of the Holy Knights, “Royal Paladin”. He can turn any and every negative emotion including death, despair, envy or even fear into his own power and strength. As well, he regards his fellows and footmen as mere tools for his schemes, and is completely merciless and cruel, as he’ll dispose of anyone working for him once they’ve outlived their usefulness. When the darkness exceeds the light, the blades of his “Shadow Erosion” overtakes their target like a pack of ravenous ghouls, consuming every mote of light in their path.

騎士王 アルフレッド King of Knights, Alfred

“Enter the fray, leader of all knights!”

“ロイヤルパラディン”を率いる王にして最強の騎士。 正義の体現者と呼ぶに相応しい、偉大なる騎士団の統率者でもある。 ユナイテッドサンクチュアリに住まうすべての者達のことを第一に考えるため、常に無血の戦いを望んでいる。 「ブラスター・ブレード」が忠誠を誓う存在で、英雄視されている彼の良き理解者。

The strongest knight who personally leads the “Royal Paladin”. He is the leader of the majestic knights who is worthy of being called the embodiment of justice itself. He always hopes that battles will end without bloodshed, as he thinks of the welfare and well-being of everyone in United Sanctuary before anything else. He is a good, understanding man, and is seen as a hero, and to whom “Blaster Blade” is loyal to.

Disclaimer: I do still encourage that you watch the whole thing if you plan to get into it regardless, but if it’s not feasible, this at least helps point out the episodes that are required watching for plot and such, recommended-though-not-strictly-essential episodes, and flat-out filler that can be safely skipped with no real consequence.

“ロイヤルパラディン”の精鋭、「宝石騎士」の副団長。 如何な刃でも傷一つ付かない蒼金剛石の「魔宝石」を持つ。 正統な血を受け継ぐエルフの王族であり、武芸はもちろんの事、政や知略にも秀でる万能の戦士。 若くして大役を任された騎士団長「アシュレイ」の副官を志願し、問題児の捜索等の雑務も率先して行う、厳格だが面倒見の良い女性で、「解放戦争」の最中、騎士王に加担して国家再建を目指し奔走していた忠臣の一人でもある。 「人は皆、誰かに支えられて生きている。だから自分も皆を支えるのだ」と、彼女は言った。 大望を持たない優しい彼女の思想は、上に立つべき者「王族」としては不適切なのかもしれない。 しかし、長きに渡り多くの者との間に築かれた絆は、仲間を、民を、世界を守る為の大いなる力となるだろう。

The sub-commander of the “Jewel Knights”, the elite of the “Royal Paladins”. She possesses a Blue Diamond, one of the “Magical Jewels”, that is unscratchable by any blade, no matter how sharp. A pure-blooded member of the Elven royal family, she is a master warrior skilled in tactics, law, order and of course the arts of war. She left at an early age, applying for the important job as the aid of the leader of the knights “Ashley”, she’d also do the mundane chores of searching for problem children, a clear display of her strict but caring nature. During the War of Liberation, she was one of the nation’s loyal subjects who put all her energy into the King of Knights’ plan to rebuild the nation. She said “Everyone, as long as they live, is supported by someone else. So I’ll support everyone too.”. Her gentle, kind thoughts contain not a hint of ambition, quite in appropriate for one of the “Royal Family”, who should be standing at the top of the world. However, the bonds of she’s built with many people over many years is going to be a great power to protect her friends, her nation, and of course, the entire world.

封竜 ハンガーヘル・ドラゴン Seal Dragon, Hungerhell Dragon

“An accursed tribe feared by the Dragon Emperor. The Seal Dragons are the strongest berserkers erased from the history of the Dragon Empire.”

侵略者への対抗手段を一つでも増やすべく、一時的に地上への帰還を許された「封竜」の一人。 不死身に近い驚異の生命力を持ち、本能の赴くままに殺戮を繰り返した凶悪な竜。 かつて幾度も討伐の命が下ったが、何度打ち倒しても完全に滅ぼす事が適わず、止む無く戦の場となった大洞穴ごと強力な封印を施された。 従って、彼は「マグナ・プリズン」に収容されていない数少ない「封竜」という事になる。 力の大半を奪い去る呪符の上から更に魔封楔という封印用の魔具を打ち込まれ、彼はようやく忌まわしき洞からの解放を許された。 悪魔をして悪魔と言わしめる邪悪な竜は、無機質な侵略者共に掛け値なしの感謝の意を込めて教示する。 「恐怖」の意味を、「地獄」とは如何なる処なのかを。

One of the “Seal Dragons” allowed to return to the surface to fight back against the invaders. An atrocious dragon that caused multiple massacres due to its killing instincts, it has a miraculous life force that makes it practically invulnerable and immortal. Though its life force has been suppressed and it has been killed over and over, it has never been able to be completely kiled or destroyed no matter what’s been done, and despite even severely strong seals, almost every large cavern has become a reluctant battlefield. As a result, he is one of the few “Seal Dragons” not imprisoned in Magma Prison. He was finally released from his foul den when the Amulet that robbed most of his magic was placed on him along with a magical device called a Magic Sealing Wedge that keeps the seals upon him going. He is a diabolic dragon so awful that even demons call him a devil, but he was taught to throw all of his aggression on the inorganic invaders. What is the meaning of “fear”? What kind of place is “hell”?

餓竜 バトルレックス Ravenous Dragon, Battlerex

“How troublesome, you should all be WELL-DONE!”

触れるだけで肉を裂き骨を断つ、鋭い刃の装甲を全身に纏った“たちかぜ”の破壊戦士。 眼前にいる者を裂いて燃やして叩き壊す事しか考えておらず、己の肉体や味方が傷つく事を全く意に介さない。 暴れるだけでも周囲に甚大な被害を及ぼすが、鎧の集熱機構で強化された炎のブレス「ガーボイルド・バスター」はそれまでの痛手が手緩い物に見える程の惨状を作り出す。 鉄の融点である1500度を超える超高熱の炎を直接浴びれば、鎧を着た堅牢な戦士や硬い鱗に覆われたドラゴンであっても塵になるまで焼き尽くされてしまうという。 仁も忠も義も知らない、闘争という飢餓に囚われた暴竜。 彼が帝国に従うのは「戦いの場を常に提供し続ける」という条件があるからである。 世界に平和が訪れる事を、誰もが望んでいる訳では無いのだ。

A destructive warrior from “Tachikaze” who wears sharp bladed armor over his entire body that can slice the beat off of a bone from just touching. He thinks only breaking, beating, burning, tearing everything in front of him, not caring if he hurts himself or his allies. He inflicts tremendous damage from just rampaging, but his flaming breath “GAR Boiled Buster” is the true terror, as it’s powered up by thermal collecting organs in his armor, that allow him to roast everything around him, inflicting massive casualties  If it bathes its victims in its super-hot flames that go in excess of 1500 degrees, which is the melting point of iron, it’s said that even the most heavily armored warrior or even a dragon covered in hard scales will be burned to ash. He is an Tyrannosaur whose senses have been seized by his hunger for battle,  knowing hot compassion, loyalty or even honor. The only reason he follows the empire is because there’s an agreement that “He’ll always be allowed to fight”. The truth is, not everyone wants there to be world peace.

マスプロ・セイラー Mass-Produced Sailor

“There are 16 identical soldiers of the original model.”

「一つの細胞から完全同型のアクアロイドを複数体生み出す」という実験の過程で造りだされた試験型アクアロイド。 最初期は名将達の細胞から強力な戦士を生み出すプロジェクトだったが、長い実験期間を経て、アクアロイドに使用する細胞は能力が高い者ほど複製が困難という事実が発覚した。 そして現在、オリジナルの完全なコピーを生成するには、この「マスプロ・セイラー」のように一般のアクアロイドの水準を下回るよう意図的に調整された個体でなければ不可能である、という結論が出ている。 悲しい生い立ちを持つ彼らだが、悲観するほど複雑な思考能力を与えられなかった事は幸いだったのかもしれない。 戦場で彼らに与えられる命令は、そんな過去より余程無慈悲な物なのだから。

An experimental Aquaroid produced using an equally experimental production method of “producing multiple complete Aquaroids” from one cell. At first, the project aimed to produce strong soldiers from the cells of (a) famous admiral(s), but after a long period of tests and trials, it was found it was extremely difficult to duplicate the cells of extremely talented Aquaroids. As of now, it has been concluded to create a complete copy of the original is impossible unless specific alterations are done deliberately to make the Aquaroid far more inferior, such as this “Mass-Produced Sailor”. While their breeding sis said, they weren’t given complex mental processes, so fortunately they aren’t pessimistic. However, they need to be given instructions while on the battlefield, or else they’ll be far more ruthless than expected.

天罰の守護天使[ワイルドショット・セレスティアル] ラグエル Wildshot Celestial, Raguel

“Oy oy, a loudmouthed big guy like you shouldn’t cry”

蒼き翼を持つ特殊医療部隊「瑠璃色の守護天使（ラピスラズリ・セレスティアル）」の一員。 好戦的で敵にも味方にも厳しいが、元看護師というだけあって患者に接する時だけはまるで別人のように優しくなる。 特殊武装の「セラピストマシンガン」は、通常の弾丸に加えて回復弾も使えるように調整された武器だが、戦地では「治すより倒す」を信条にしている為、戦闘中に彼女が仲間に回復弾を使用した所を見た者はいないらしい。 治療の為とはいえ味方に弾丸を打込まれるのは精神的にも辛いものがあり、皆負傷を避けるよう全力を尽くすようになる為、守護天使は回避や防御の技術が短期間で飛躍的に上昇するという。 彼女達の治療器具兼武装が仰々しいのは、無用な負傷をするとさらに痛い目を見る事になるから注意するように、と言う意味が込められている……のかもしれない。

A member of the Special Medical Team “Lapis Lazuli Celestial” whose members are marked by their blue wings. She is jingoistic and harsh to both friend and foe, but she does a 180 around patients, acting as gentle as she used to be when she was a nurse. She is armed with the special weapon “The Therapist Machine Gun”, a weapon modified to use both regular and healing bullets. She is known for her creed “Defeat from healing”, but she never uses her healing bullets except when no one is looking. Because her allies find being shot by a bullet a traumatic way of healing, they do their best to avoid getting hurt at all, to the point that this ‘guardian angel’ has caused incredible bursts in the fields of evasive and defensive technology in such a short period of time. The truth about the weapons and equipment of these girls are highly exaggerated, perhaps as a means of making sure you don’t get injured, it’s said… … perhaps.

刻印の守護天使[マーキング・セレスティアル] アラバキ Marking  Celestial, Arabaki

“Gotcha! Give up and accept a complete recovery, ya punk!”

蒼き翼を持つ特殊医療部隊「瑠璃色の守護天使（ラピスラズリ・セレスティアル）」の一員。 同じ部隊の「ラグエル」に次いで好戦的な性格をしており、防衛や迎撃の任を率先して受けている。 回復用と攻撃用の2つの弾丸を用いる「セラピストライフル」という特殊武装を有するが、回復弾は主に味方が負傷した時に使用するだけで、患者に対して使う事はあまり無いらしい。 また、ライフルに取り付けられた光学照準器には望遠を補助する魔法がかけられており、これによって数百メートル離れた的にも正確に狙いを定める事ができるという。 彼女は捉えた獲物を決して逃がさない。 敵はもちろん味方もだ。 戦場で彼女の手荒い「治療」を受けたくないのなら、怪我をしないよう心掛ける以外に方法は無い。

A member of the Special Medical Team “Lapis Lazuli Celestial” whose members are marked by their blue wings. She has a fighting personality and  belongs to the same unit as “Raguel”, but mostly requests to do defensive and intercepting jobs. She is armed with a special weapon called the “Therapist Rifle”, which has two kinds of bullets: One for healing, one for shooting. She uses the healing bullet mostly for her injured friends and rarely uses it for patients. Ass well, her rifle has a special sight hexed to allow her see over far distances, allowing her to aim accurately from several hundred meters away. She never misses prey caught in her sights. This is true for friends as well as enemies. If you don’t want to receive her violent “treatment” on the battlefield, you better not get injured in the first place.

轟く波紋 ジノビオス Roaring Wave, Genobios

RR: “For the sake of absolute justice! Arise, child of the blue dragon!”

SP: “Stand up, men, in the name of justice! Order of Justice!”

絶対正義を提唱しながらも、兵の個性を尊重する心優しき“アクアフォース”の大佐。 類稀な統率力と智謀を駆使して幾つもの死線を潜り抜けてきた名軍師。 正義とは自分自身が定めた正しき行いであると信じ、冷徹非情になる事を強要する軍の常識をあまり快く思っていない。 その為、一部の佐官・将官らの不興を買い、一時は生還率が低いとされる地域へ更迭されたが、小規模の損害で同地域の制圧を完了、結果的に彼の能力を軍内部に強く知らしめることになったという。 彼は部下に「正義とは何か」と問う。 しかし答えは求めない。 その問いを投げ、自身の正義について今一度思案させる事が目的だからである。 強大なる侵略者の蛮行を阻止する為、「轟く波紋」は己の正義を執行する。 同じ思いを胸に秘めた、同じ正義を掲げる部下達と共に。

A captain in Aqua Force who advocates absolute justice, while having a gentle enough heart that he respects the individuality of his men. He is called “The Strategist” because he’s a very rare sort who is capable of making full use of his leadership while while coming up with brilliant schemes, which has allowed him to escape the jaws of defeat many times. Believing that doing the right thing is itself Justice, he doesn’t follow the Navy’s common belief that one must be cruel and ruthless. As a result, he’s prone to incurring the wrath of some of the other field officers and admirals, and at one point was sent off on a suicide mission where the rate of success for taking the area was nearly 0%, and ultimately took complete control of the area with almost no loss of life. As a result, it’s said he showed the full depth of his skills to those inside the Navy. He asks his subordinates “What is Justice?”. But they don’t have to answer. That’s because the point is to make them give up on the question, and think about, again and again, what “Justice” is to them. In order to stop the horrific acts of the savage Invaders, the “Roaring Wave” will follow his own Justice. All of them carrying the same feelings in their hearts, he and his men sally forth, all armed with the same “Justice”.

高まる波紋 パヴロス Rising Wave, Pavros

“My sword is the spray! It’s impossible to escape fast enough!”

海軍大佐「ジノビオス」の部隊に所属する伍長。 飛沫のように変幻自在な高速剣の使い手。 現部隊に異動する前は、高い戦闘能力を買われて執行部隊「ティアーナイト」に所属していたが、感情過多で非情になりきれない性格が災いして任を解かれてしまう。 その後、様々な部隊を転々としていたが、当時中佐であった「ジノビオス」の下で軍の思想に縛られない自由な戦い方を許され、本来の実力を如何なく発揮できるようになった。 周囲の味方を巻きこないようにという配慮から単騎での突貫を好むが、読みが甘い為に危険に晒される事も多く、同部隊の「ソティリオ」によく諫められている。 その剣は水中にあっても速度を落とさず、振るえば振るう程加速する。 一見はもちろん、二度三度見たところで到底捉える事など出来ないだろう。

A corporal attached to Marine Captain Genobios’ unit. He’s a master of high-speed sword-fighting which is as ever-changing as the spray of the sea. Before being transferred to his current unit, he was a part of the Executive Unit, “The Tear Knights”” for his high level fighting abilities, but ultimately was relieved of his responsibilities because of his emotional personality that prevented him from becoming ruthless enough. After that, he was moved around various units, ultimately ending up with Genobios, who was a commander at the time, who allowed him to fight the way he liked without any concerns of the navy, which allowed him to show his true skills without anything. He’s prone to jumping into things in a cocksure manner, not considering what’s going on around him, which often puts him in danger because of he can’t read the atmosphere worth a damn, so he is often snapped at by “Sotorio”, a fellow soldier in his unit. His sword doesn’t slow down even underwater, in fact, the more he swings it, the faster it gets. Of course, at first glance, you won’t see it, you need to see it happen two or three times.

静かなる波紋 ソティリオ Quiet Wave, Sotirio

“Be… Be quiet! Will unrest become a wave?”

海軍大佐「ジノビオス」の部隊に所属する兵長。 音一つ立てない剣捌きから「静かなる波紋」の異名を持つ。 雑音を嫌い静寂を好む無口な少年だが、無愛想という訳では無く、必要な時はきちんとコミュニケーションも取れる優等生。 戦闘技能は高いが決定打に欠ける為、戦闘ではサポートに徹する事が多い。 突出しがちな隊員の多い部隊の制止役でもあり、戦況に関わらず単機駆けを行おうとする「パヴロス」は、いつも彼が諭しているらしい。 彼は音を嫌う。 音は心の乱れをそのまま相手に伝えてしまうから、水を通じればより顕著に伝わってしまうから。 波打つ事を忌避する波、「静かなる波紋」。 唯々静かに、音をたてない波は雑音を発する者を切り裂いていく。

A Lance Corporal who belongs to the unit of Naval Captain “Genobis”. He has the nickname of “Quiet Wave” due to the fact his sword not a sound. A quiet boy who favors silence over noise, but he’s by no means blunt, as he’s an honor student can properly communicate when he has to. Highly skilled at battle, he lacks a clinching move, so he tends put his heart and soul into serving as support during battle. He also has a role of keeping the unit’s men in line, who are prone to getting out of hand, such as keeping “Parous” from charging first half-cocked regardless of the tactical situation, and is usually seen scolding him. Because sound just tells the enemy about the disorder in someone’s heart, as one can transmit information more conspicuously through water. The wave that evades a wave, that is the “Quiet Wave”. The wave that makes no sound can calmly cut those that make noise to pieces.
